"No One Will Love You Like I Do."

"No one will ever love you like I do."

Has anyone ever said this to you? Maybe during a fight? Or right after a breakup?

It's the title of countless songs and Pinterest boards are riddled with this quote.

I know it sounds romantic. Like you've found this great love that can't be replicated, but I hate it.

It creates self doubt. It’s manipulative. It says,
“you’re nothing without me”
"I’m the only one that sees your value.”
"I'm all that you have."

We say things like this for so many reasons. Because we're hurt. We want the other person to hurt too. We're scared that we'll be alone. We don't see our own worth.

Maybe what we mean to say is...
Don't leave me.
I'm scared.
I don't want to be alone.
I messed up.
I don't appreciate you enough.
I love you.
I'm afraid I'm not good enough for you.
I'm scared you'll realize your worth.

What do you think about this line?
